Centre for Eye Research (CERA)

The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) is an independent medical research institute based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. Affiliated with the University of Melbourne, CERA is deeply committed to conducting eye research with real-life impact and finding ways to prevent vision loss and blindness.

To enhance the safety of staff, a fixed gas detection system was installed by Noventis in both tissue culture rooms and gas store. This system effectively mitigates the risks associated with oxygen depletion and asphyxiation. By continuously monitoring gas levels, it provides early warnings and allows for prompt action.

The detection system comprises multiple oxygen and carbon dioxide detectors, along with displays at the two entrances to the facility. These displays show gas concentrations and alarm statuses for all available detectors. Real-time alerts are sent to security personnel, facilitating swift response and coordination during emergencies.
