Snowy Hydro 2.0

Snowy 2.0 is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia. It will provide an additional 2,200 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand generating capacity and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale storage to the National Electricity Market. The project aims to deliver its first electricity by December 2028.

To transport future energy into the grid and provide power to the tunnel boring machines, a new substation was developed. The substation accommodates Gas Insulated Switch Gear which is filled with Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6). To project the workplace and the environment, Noventis installed a gas detection system for Sulphur Hexafluoride across the switch room.

The detection system is wired back to a central control panel which activates audible visual alarms and has the ability notifying operations that a SF6 leak has been detected. Noventis delivered a turn-key project, inclusive installation and commissioning.
