Transit Systems Bus Depot

Transit Systems, a world-class public transport operator headquartered in Australia, manages bus networks across major Australian cities. In partnership with Governments, Transit Systems innovates, designs and delivers public transport solutions that are easy to use, reliable, convenient and safe.

In Adelaide, Transit Systems, operating under the name Torrens Transit, provides bus services to the metropolitan areas in particular across Adelaide’s East West, North South, and Outer North East bus contract areas.

Torrens Transits’ Morphettville Depot is now home to a cutting-edge fleet of hydrogen fuelled buses. As part of a forward-thinking initiative, the South Australian government has launched a two-year hydrogen bus trial as a significant step toward zero-emissions public transport. These buses, powered by hydrogen fuel cells, are set to hit the roads across Adelaide starting from late August 2023 and can be recognised by their striking green decal.

Before the arrival of the new hydrogen-powered buses, Noventis installed a Hydrogen Detection System at the Morphettville Depot. This comprehensive system comprises out of multiple detectors, controllers and audible-visual alarms. Its purpose is to monitor hydrogen levels within the depot environment. In the event of an elevated hydrogen concentration, the system is seamlessly connected to a paging system, ensuring swift alerts and necessary actions. Safety and vigilance remain paramount as Adelaide embraces cleaner and more sustainable transportation options.
