University of Melbourne - School of Engineering

The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) has redeveloped Levels 2 and 4 in Building 176 on the University’s Parkville Campus, also known as Engineering Block D.

The new layout for Level 4 includes two PC2-rated Wet Labs, a Materials Engineering Lab, Characterization labs, a Bacteria Lab, and microscopy facilities. The design provisions for teaching, office, and ancillary spaces prioritize occupant thermal comfort while minimising energy consumption.

Noventis has installed a state-of-the-art gas detection system within the PC2 and general lab spaces. The system comprises two eight-channel controllers, as well as oxygen and carbon dioxide detectors. It seamlessly interfaces with the Building Management System (BMS) via a high-level interface. Additionally, the system integrates gas solenoids, enabling it to promptly isolate gas supplies in response to a gas detection alarm.
